StepPals privacy policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
This policy explains how StepPals and this support website handle information. For privacy questions, contact FedeLoch, the developer of StepPals, at federico.lochbaum@gmail.com.
Your step counts and companion progress are stored on your device. StepPals does not send your health data to the developer or use it to target advertising. Advertising and app stores process other information as described below.
Steps and health access
With your permission, StepPals reads step counts from Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iOS. These counts calculate walking progress, rewards, daily goals, and companion activity. The app requests read access to steps, not permission to change your health records. It does not read your walking route or GPS location.
You can revoke this access in your device’s health permissions. Step-based features will then stop updating. Revoking access does not delete records already stored in the game or in your health app.
Game progress and backups
Companion names and appearance, steps and goals, inventory, discoveries, garden memories, and preferences are stored locally. There is no StepPals account or developer-operated cloud save service.
You may export a recovery code and paste it to restore progress. This code contains your game data, including saved step information. It is encoded and checked for integrity, not encrypted. Keep it private. StepPals does not upload it; any service you choose to store or share it with has its own privacy practices. Device backups may also be managed by your operating system.
Optional advertising
StepPals uses Google AdMob for banner advertising. You can disable banners for free in Settings and access available advertising privacy choices there. The app requests non-personalized ads; this does not mean that ads collect no information.
Google’s advertising SDK may process IP addresses (including approximate location derived from them), device or advertising identifiers, app and ad interactions, and performance or diagnostic information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Consent options are presented where applicable. Step counts and health records are not provided to AdMob by StepPals.
See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Your device settings also provide advertising identifier controls.
Optional purchases
Google Play or Apple’s App Store processes purchases. StepPals checks purchase status to unlock and restore optional supporter items and stores entitlement information on your device. The developer does not receive your payment card details through the app. Store purchase records and refunds are managed by the relevant store under its own policies.
Support and this website
If you email support, your email address, message, and any information you choose to include are used to respond and resolve your request. Please do not send health records or recovery codes unless needed for a specific support issue.
This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting. Google may process technical request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and secure the website. We have not added website analytics, advertising, tracking cookies, or contact forms. Email is handled by the email provider.
Retention and deletion
Game data remains on your device until you reset progress, clear app storage, or otherwise remove it. Resetting the game does not delete health records, store purchase history, or recovery codes and device backups you saved separately. Delete those copies through the relevant service if desired.
Support messages are kept as needed to address requests and meet applicable obligations; contact us to request deletion. Google and Apple determine retention of information they process under their respective policies. We do not operate a central database of your companion or step records.
Your choices and rights
You can manage health permissions, disable banners, change available consent choices, export your save, or reset progress. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal information, withdraw consent, or complain to your data protection authority. Contact the email above for information held by the developer; contact the relevant provider for its records.
Changes
We will update this page when the app’s data practices change, with the revision date shown above.
